GREEN MEADOWS
In the greenest meadows I did run
As a carefree child of a loving God,
And I found on earth true heaven.
Life was generous with sunny days
But I also took the rainy days
No less gratefully than the flowers.
I found true love beyond compare
And thinking it would always be there,
God’s love was no longer needed.
Green meadows too soon turned brown,
With joyful flowers no longer found,
And I sought God’s love again.
In the trials of the later years
I lose in life much that I hold dear,
But God’s love stays true to me.
One day the old shall be renewed
With even God’s love excitingly new
In green meadows of eternity.
