Jesus told His Apostles to cross the sea
And return to their lodging at Capernaum
Though nightfall arrived He would not leave
But would go His own way and later be with them

The sea became riled as the wind blew with fury
The Apostles dropped sail and took to the oars
They rowed without progress until they were weary
Struggling for hours in the seething uproar

Suddenly appears Jesus walking the sea
In distress they cry out but He says fear not
Peter says Lord, can I be with Thee?
Jesus says come, Peter steps in the sea

The waves engulf him and panic his heart
Fearing to be lost, he desperately cries out
Jesus raises him calmly above the sea
Oh man of little faith, why didst thou doubt?
