HE DIED FOR YOU
He came with a new dawn of righteousness
As the Savior of a world lost deep in sin.
He walked hard ground of a wrathful time
But here too were men of great love to find.
A humble Man with eyes of God to see you,
He saw good and bad in men and they knew.
With power to command a world by His might
But His Father asked Him for a harder fight.
He preached on mountains and in the temple city,
Many also came for His miracles if only to see.
He healed the suffering and cured the blinded
And blessed the sinners with forgiving kindness.
Days became few and storms gathered around,
Enemies grew bold and followers found doubt.
To those He loves and asks to love each other,
He must depart and go to His Heavenly Father.
Evil hearts seize this Man of love and peace
On a gloomy dark night of an even darker hate.
If truly the Messiah that He claims to be,
Why should He endure such a terrible fate?
Those who just days ago sought to touch Him
Now show Him contempt and call for His death.
They jeer and they cheer the Lord’s last steps
As He staggers beneath the cross to His death.
He fell not afraid, why should you be?
He won His cross for you, take it lovingly.
When you fall He will help you up again,
He died for you and your love for Him.
